Service Pack 2 Auto Update Delayed
Because many corporations do not yet want Service Pack 2 for
Windows XP installed on their employees desktops, Microsoft has delayed the
automatic update of SP2 to give them more time to block it. It is now
scheduled to be released for Automatic Updates on Wednesday, August 18, for XP
Home Edition and on Wednesday, August 25, for XP Professional Edition.
The fact that Microsoft released tools to block the automatic
install of SP2, and now with the delay of it's release for this purpose, I
recommend that the majority not rush to install this update.
If you wish to wait before having SP2 installed on your computer,
you must either disable Automatic Updates or use the
toolkit provided by
Microsoft to prevent automatic installation.
