General Concerns
disk cleanup - Before running scandisk, disk defrag, or a full
anti-virus scan, you should clear your web browser(s) disk cache, close all
running applications, and uninstall programs that you no longer use.
spyware / adware - These types of programs slow your computer down
and are used to track your usage for targeted advertisements.
startup programs - Many useful programs install utilities that run on
your computer's startup process, that increase the time it takes before your
computer is ready to use and can generally decrease performance. Many
of these programs are unecessary and can be changed so not to start on
bootup.
applications no longer used - You should uninstall programs that you
no longer use. If left installed, they occupy disk space and can slow
down the performance of other programs.
