Hard Drive Maintenance
scandisk - It is important that you scan your hard disk drive using
scandisk to check for problems on a regular basis.
How to run Scandisk
defrag - All files stored on your hard drive are stored in fragments.
Ideally files are physically written contiguously on the drive.
Unfortunately over time, files may become fragmented with parts scattered all
in various locations on the disk. While technically this may not cause
immediate problems, a "defragmented" drive will perform better.
How to run Defrag
disk cleanup - Before running scandisk, disk defrag, or a full
anti-virus scan, you should clear your web browser(s) disk cache, close all
running applications, and uninstall programs that you no longer use.
